Rebecca Portney Child & Family Therapy is a private practice in Bixby Knolls (Long Beach) offering individual and family mental health services to toddlers, children, teens, and families. We approach each client and family with respect, kindness, patience, and expertise. We provide strength-based and highly individualized, trauma-informed treatment. Our treatment is rooted in Play Therapy, Attachment Theory, Family Systems Theory, and cognitive-behavioral concepts. We can offer support with a wide range of mental health concerns that come up for children, teens, and families. Some of our specialties include working with children and teens who have experienced trauma, as well as with neurodiverse children and teens (including Austism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and developmental disorders). We have a fully-stocked playroom and a comfortable seating area for talk therapy. We love supporting the members of our local community in building resiliency, increasing emotional regulation, improving communication, strengthening relationships, and decreasing any symptoms or behaviors that impede healthy social-emotional development. This is a safe space for children and families of all races, religions, disabilities, and cultural/ personal identities. We are bilingual and offer services in English and Spanish.
